Battery Management Ecosystem

The Viritech Battery Management Ecosystem provides OEM and Tier-1 manufacturers with highly scalable, volume production capable battery management hardware and software optimised for high performance battery systems.

Highly configurable controller and module architecture with the option for customised cell interface boards allows for rapid deployment within battery system designs whilst the high number of temperature and voltage measurements along with a sampling rate of over 250Hz allows for per cell monitoring within high duty cycle or high energy battery systems.

Highly deployable controller and module architecture

A Viritech Battery Management System consists of a BMS Controller and up to 64 Module Level Units with Cell Interfaces, supporting up to 768 individual voltage measurements in both serialised and parallelised packs.

It includes a proprietary high-speed cell balancing algorithm and proprietary SoX algorithms/capabilities covering:

  • State of Charge

  • State of Health

  • State of Energy

  • State of Power

Nano-Amp sleep mode enables low parasitic current draw when a vehicle is unused whilst ASIL capable hardware allows for use of the system in homologated production vehicles when engineered as part of a production solution.

The Viritech BMS provides maximum flexibility for the customer:

  • System design allows battery module level replacement within a pack

  • Bespoke & Customisible cell interface board designs allow for support of a wide variety of module designs

  • Support for multiple cell chemistries (e.g. LFP, LTO, NMC etc)

  • A standard Cell Interface Board configuration is available for prototype and development applications

The Viritech Battery Management Ecosystem includes the following products:

  • BMS Controller: A top level, high performance, hardware ASIL capable, battery management system controller with advanced SoX algorithms (Charge, Health, Energy, Power), high speed sampling (>250hz) and support for 64 Module Level Units offering 768 voltage and 512 temperature inputs.

  • Module Level Unit: Designed and optimised to integrate at the module level within a battery pack providing direct measurements of cell voltage and temperature to the BMS Controller.

  • Cell Interface Board: Provides rapid integration of the Module Level Unit with the individual cells within the battery pack. Viritech’s engineering services can design and produce bespoke Cell Interface Boards as required for specific cell integration on request, with a standardised interface board available for development and prototype vehicle use.
