Technology overview

As a pioneer of the hydrogen revolution, our technology enables more efficient, lighter and lower-cost fuel-cell powertrains

Viritech technology at MIRA

More efficient powertrain,

more efficient integration

The traditional FCEV methodology is to take a BEV powertrain and use a fuel cell to increase its range.

Our approach is more sophisticated and efficient: we use the fuel cell and the battery where they are most efficient, and we create a dynamic energy system that can continuously vary the energy split between the two.

Viritech’s pursuit of efficiency extends to the integration of the powertrain, with the ability to supply industry leading components, or complete powertrain solutions.

With access to Horiba MIRA’s 40 engineering facilities and 700 engineers, Viritech also has the capacity to deliver major engineering projects.

Viritech is the natural FCEV development partner for vehicle manufacturers and major component suppliers.

The Viritech Advantage

All our designs are measured against three principles:

  • Is it lighter?

  • Does it increase powertrain efficiency?

  • Does it reduce the cost and complexity of integrating an FCEV powertrain?

As a result:

Tri-Volt™ reduces the size of the battery by up to 90%, reduces the number of DC-DC Converters from two to one and enables greater use of regenerative energy. The result is lighter weight and lower fuel consumption.

Graph-Pro™ significantly improves packaging by reducing the weight and parts count of hydrogen pressure vessels.

Our energy management and controls, together with full modelling and simulation capability, provide the ancillary equipment and capabilities to enable straightforward powertrain integration.
